Memorial Day 2012

I try to keep this page different from my "Common Sense" page. But since this is Memorial Day weekend I am posting this on both pages.... My husband and I had the opportunity to spend a couple days this Memorial weekend with 2 retired Navy Seals. What a great weekend. These guys are awesome. Not only are they tough, courageous, talented, and "bad ass", they shared their human side with us as well. They told stories that we could only dare to imagine...war stories. These brave guys, and thousands before them and after them, give so much. We have no idea, and until you actually get the opportunity to know one, talk to one, hear one, the life of a soldier sometimes seems like simply something we see on TV, or in a movie. They are so brave, so patriotic, they love God and their country. And they SACRIFICE. They put their lives on the line, for us, for their country. To be around these guys was such a gift. While Memorial Day is a day to remember, and be thankful for those who served or are serving, we need to remember these guys and gals daily. Everyday there are soldiers out there risking their lives. If you don't know a soldier or haven't had the opportunity to get to know one, I hope you someday do. Meanwhile you can pray for them, pray for their safety, pray for their lives, and pray for their return home. If you would like to help Vet's but not sure how, I highly recommend giving to Camp Patriot. Camp Patriot is dedicated to helping wounded soldiers and exists to take Disabled U.S. Veterans on outdoor adventures. It is a wonderful organization. Check it out: http://www.camppatriot.org

Use Your Sword

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12 NKJV Again, I find the words of Joyce Meyer so right on! As I've said before, I try to read her Confident Woman Daily Devotional everyday. "No, Satan, I am good in God. I am not good in myself, but His goodness dwells in me, and He has a good plan for my life. I have overcome my past because I have let go of what lies behind and am pressing on to the good things that lie ahead," "Speaking the truth of God's Word to the devil is the only way to see a mind-set change. Bring your thoughts into line with the Word and press on toward the good things He has in store for you. The choice is yours!" Joyce Meyer. This reminds me of a bible study I was in years ago. The leader of the group always said "Satan, get behind me!" She said she told herself that several times a day, I always got a kick out that. But you know what? It works. And it has stuck with me all these years. If I find myself with negative thoughts or actions, I often whisper to myself-"Satan, get behind me!" Like Joyce says, choose God's Word to defeat the enemy! Get behind me Satan! You dirty dog! :) God Bless!

Morning Coffee

"I've been on a few diets because I can't get enough to eat on just one!" This is the saying on the front of my favorite coffee cup. I drink coffee out of this cup almost every morning. My son gave me this cup, what do you think he was trying to say? Love him anyway...;)

Wise Words

We don’t have a trillion-dollar debt because we haven’t taxed enough; we have a trillion-dollar debt because we spend too much. — Ronald Reagan

Lost My Vision......

Greetings People! A couple months ago I posted about our "vision." A piece I got from Joel Osteen. He talked about our vision...how we see ourselves. How we need to stay positive to move in a positive direction. It was a great lesson, I totally agreed, I got it. I vowed to get positive, be thankful, vision myself happy, healthy, thin, debt free, diet free, yada yada! Well, as I was reading through my posts and came across that one, I realized how I had slipped back into the old whiner I often am. UGH! Message to self: I am blessed, I am loved, I am healthy, I am smart, I am HIS child, I am forgiven. I AM a Groovey Mom! Okay, good, I needed that, have a great weekend- and remember-You are AWESOME!!!!
