Proud of Food Stamps?
I am so sick of this political climate! Shame on those in government who have to ease their guilty conscience by giving people something for free by fooling themselves into thinking that they are actually taking care of people! Do you really think giving someone a rat infested run down apartment in the projects with some food stamps and a block of government cheese is really going to help this person to achieve the American Dream? NO! We have to get people off the government dole, get them educated and get them jobs so they can live a better life! Shame on this government for thinking they are so great because they have increased the amount of people on food stamps from 28.2 million to 44.7 million people- a 59% increase! This is nothing to be proud of. Something to be proud of would be lowering taxes so people could afford a decent education, improving the economy so people could get a decent job, and claiming that under their administration they actually lowered the amount of people on food stamps! Now that’s something to be proud of!

Great Joyce Meyer Prayer
Lord, the world continually tries to conform me to be like everyone else. I thank You for making me different. Help me to be content with who I am. Amen.

Talk To God!
Prayer is a central part of our faith, and it empowers us to relate with God on a personal level. How awesome it is that we get to have conversations with God daily, and that God chooses to listen and speak to us!

Take Personal Responsibility!
NEW YORK, May 31 (Reuters) - Coca-Cola Co and McDonald's Corp slammed Mayor Michael Bloomberg's proposed ban on large soft drinks in New York City, arguing for freedom of choice and saying it would not effectively curb obesity.
"New Yorkers expect and deserve better than this. They can make their own choices about the beverages they purchase," Coca-Cola said in a statement on Thursday.
The world's largest soft-drink maker, which would be most affected by the ban, said it already puts calorie counts on the front of its bottles and cans and noted that restaurants post calorie content for all their offerings, including soft drinks.
Bloomberg's assault on super-sized sodas opened a new front in the battle over how local governments regulate in the name of health what people eat and drink.
What next? If this were to pass, what would be next? NO large Fries, double and triple burgers, how about no bacon on the burgers? That would cut calories, or let's ban potato chips, cookies, and all fried foods, or better yet, let's just shut down all 7-11's and fast food restaurants! Really people? People out there know what is fattening and what is not! This is not rocket science. If you eat fattening crap you will gain weight. If you feed your kids fattening crap, they will gain weight. Banning certain crap and not other crap will not make you healthy. Only YOU can do that! Good Grief!

Memorial Day 2012
I try to keep this page different from my "Common Sense" page. But since this is Memorial Day weekend I am posting this on both pages.... My husband and I had the opportunity to spend a couple days this Memorial weekend with 2 retired Navy Seals. What a great weekend. These guys are awesome. Not only are they tough, courageous, talented, and "bad ass", they shared their human side with us as well. They told stories that we could only dare to imagine...war stories. These brave guys, and thousands before them and after them, give so much. We have no idea, and until you actually get the opportunity to know one, talk to one, hear one, the life of a soldier sometimes seems like simply something we see on TV, or in a movie. They are so brave, so patriotic, they love God and their country. And they SACRIFICE. They put their lives on the line, for us, for their country. To be around these guys was such a gift. While Memorial Day is a day to remember, and be thankful for those who served or are serving, we need to remember these guys and gals daily. Everyday there are soldiers out there risking their lives. If you don't know a soldier or haven't had the opportunity to get to know one, I hope you someday do. Meanwhile you can pray for them, pray for their safety, pray for their lives, and pray for their return home.
If you would like to help Vet's but not sure how, I highly recommend giving to Camp Patriot.
Camp Patriot is dedicated to helping wounded soldiers and exists to take Disabled U.S. Veterans on outdoor adventures. It is a wonderful organization. Check it out: http://www.camppatriot.org

Use Your Sword
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12 NKJV
Again, I find the words of Joyce Meyer so right on! As I've said before, I try to read her Confident Woman Daily Devotional everyday.
"No, Satan, I am good in God. I am not good in myself, but His goodness dwells in me, and He has a good plan for my life. I have overcome my past because I have let go of what lies behind and am pressing on to the good things that lie ahead," "Speaking the truth of God's Word to the devil is the only way to see a mind-set change. Bring your thoughts into line with the Word and press on toward the good things He has in store for you. The choice is yours!" Joyce Meyer.
This reminds me of a bible study I was in years ago. The leader of the group always said "Satan, get behind me!" She said she told herself that several times a day, I always got a kick out that. But you know what? It works. And it has stuck with me all these years. If I find myself with negative thoughts or actions, I often whisper to myself-"Satan, get behind me!" Like Joyce says, choose God's Word to defeat the enemy!
Get behind me Satan! You dirty dog! :)
God Bless!

Morning Coffee
"I've been on a few diets because I can't get enough to eat on just one!"
This is the saying on the front of my favorite coffee cup. I drink coffee out of this cup almost every morning. My son gave me this cup, what do you think he was trying to say?
Love him anyway...;)

Lost My Vision......
Greetings People!
A couple months ago I posted about our "vision." A piece I got from Joel Osteen.
He talked about our vision...how we see ourselves. How we need to stay positive to move in a positive direction. It was a great lesson, I totally agreed, I got it. I vowed to get positive, be thankful, vision myself happy, healthy, thin, debt free, diet free, yada yada!
Well, as I was reading through my posts and came across that one, I realized how I had slipped back into the old whiner I often am. UGH!
Message to self: I am blessed, I am loved, I am healthy, I am smart, I am HIS child, I am forgiven.
I AM a Groovey Mom!
Okay, good, I needed that, have a great weekend- and remember-You are AWESOME!!!!

Earth's Final Moments
This is what I posted on my Common Sense Page today-and then realized this is what I want to say today as a Grooveymom as well.
I have been reading John Hagee's Earth's Final Moments.
As disturbing as it is...it also brings me peace and security knowing God's Word is true. With all the turmoil in the world, simply turning on the news can be one of the hardest things to do these days. Obamacare, nuclear war, Korea, Iran, Afghanistan, the Middle East, Egypt, terrorists, killings, riots, you know what I mean, the list goes on and on. These are truly turbulent times!
But here's the deal, the bible tell us all of this! As Christians why are we surprised when we hear this news? I know one reason, amidst all of this turmoil, HE gives us HOPE. He tells us what is to come, but also says no one will know the exact time of His return. HE will come like a thief in the night. And while we are here on earth, we are to love, work, live our lives as Christ would, but know that HE will return!
So, how do we get through all these scary times? Faith. Keep your faith. Keep your focus on HIM. And know all things to come are in HIS hands.
The last line of this book (I recommend you all read it) says "Rejoice and be exceedingly glad-the best is yet to be." Amen! :)

TEN THINGS GOD WON'T ASK ON THAT DAY.
1.... God won't ask what kind of car you drove. He'll ask how many people you drove who didn't have transportation..
2.... God won't ask the square footage of your house, He'll ask how many people you welcomed into your home.
3.... God won't ask about the clothes you had in your closet, He'll ask how many you helped to clothe.
4... God won't ask what your highest salary was. He'll ask if you compromised your character to obtain it.
5.... God won't ask what your job title was. He'll ask if you performed your job to the best of your ability.
6... God won't ask how many friends you had. He'll ask how many people to whom you were a friend.
7.... God won't ask in what neighborhood you lived, He'll ask how you treated your neighbors.
8.... God won't ask about the color of your skin, He'll ask about the content of your character.
9.... God won't ask why it took you so long to seek Salvation. He'll lovingly take you to your mansion in heaven, and not to the gates of Hell.
10.... God won't have to ask how many people you forwarded this to, He already knows your decision.

What's Your Vision?
I learned some words of great wisdom this morning watching Joel Osteen. I have only watched his Sunday morning sermon a few times and just happened across it today. Or did I really just happen to come across it? His message was clear:
If your vision is negative you will move in a negative direction.
If your vision is positive you will move in a positive direction.
That's it, it's as easy as that.
We need to visualize ourselves happy, healthy, thin, out of debt, on the right track to retirement, in a healthy relationship, married, pregnant, beautiful... whatever it is that you are depressed or negative about, change how you are looking at yourself.
Small vision=small life. Look through the eyes of faith and BELIEVE. See yourself blessed. Enlarge your vision, do it with God. "Don't let your vision be limited by your environment!"
He gave an example about a picture frame, he told a lady to take an empty picture fame and look at it everyday. He told her to visualize herself in that frame as how she wants to see herself. Who she wants to be. She wanted to be married and in a happy relationship. A couple years later she came to one of his sermons and introduced him to her new husband! She had a vision and with faith she reached that vision.
I have decided to change my vision! I sometimes get caught up in "the negative" and don't even realize it, so no more! I'm getting out that empty frame and everyday I will see a beautiful, skinny, happy, healthy, loved girl who has more blessings than she could ever count! Thanks Joel....:) I needed that!

Thank Goodness For My Girlfriends!
Just want to say thank you to all my female friends and family members! I love you all! After watching a couple episodes of Housewives of Beverly Hills....
I realize this is a reality show...and maybe its staged, maybe its not, I really have no idea. I watched it out of curiosity and boredom. OMG! NEVER in a million years would anyone I know treat me the way they treat each other! It is crazy, disgusting, and very sad. So, just had to say thank you and thank God for all the girls in my life, I am one lucky girl! I truly have the classiest, smartest, most loving bunch of women I can call friends. Yippee!!!!

Okay Dr. Oz...Top This Shake!
Okay, since the beginning of the year I have been trying to live a "Dr. OZ" life. Actually following many of the things he recommends for a healthy life.
He recommends eating yogurt daily...I don't like yogurt. So I put it in a protein shake in the morning for breakfast-delicious! I add berries, and flax seed, all Dr. Oz recommendations. It is yummy and a great way to start the day.
If your interested (I make this in my bullet blender).
1/2 cup ice
1/2 cup water
1 berry yoplait light
1/2 cup frozen mixed berries
1 emergen-C packet (raspberry flavor)
1/2 scoop protein powder (I use spirotein/strawberry flavor)
1 tbs. flax-seed
1/2 tsp. bone meal (powder/for calcium)
This totals only 210 calories! If you add juice or a banana you have to adjust the calories. I find that the flavored emergen-C is only 25 calories and adds the flavor of juice, juice can be up to 200 calories!
Enjoy!

Get Your Colonoscopy!
Colonoscopies Save Lives!
The procedure is a breeze....it's the nasty stuff you have to drink for 24 hours before this deal. But suck it up, you can do it. Mike and I had our first Colonoscopy a few weeks ago...we were a little late in having them. They say you should have your first one at 50. Anyway, we did it, survived it, and now can go on our merry way for another 5 years! Yippee! If you have not done it, DO IT! If I can do it, anyone can do it. :) HAPPY CLEAN AND HEALTHY COLON TO YOU!

Wanted: Beautiful Skin
Ok...at some point in time a girl should not have to worry about break-outs, like 50 something! I get that I have to handle wrinkles, lines, age-spots, etc. but this is too much. So I did a little research and to go along with my eat healthy, be healthy thing, I looked into foods that help make my skin healthy.
Here's what I found:
Water-drink more of it
avacados-yum
mangos, berries, cherries
almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds
cottage cheese
yogurt
flaxseed oil, wheat germ
canola oil, olive oil
and of course, more green veggies, fruit, and less fat, carbs, sugar....
I know all this...and have done a better job with it.
So, now maybe this 20 frickin' lbs. will start to go away as well....

Contentment
"I encourage you to be content with who you are. That does not mean that you cannot make progress and continually improve, but when you allow other people to become a law (rule or regulation), you are continually disappointed. God will never help you be someone else. Remember that being "different" is good; it is not a bad thing. Celebrate your uniqueness and rejoice in the future God has planned for you. Be confident and start enjoying you!" Joyce Meyer
I have been reading a lot about being content these days...I am so guilty of looking ahead, being hurried, wanting tomorrow, or next week, month, year to get here for whatever reason. When you live like that the next thing you know is that time has arrived, and then you look back and say where did all that time go?
CONTENT, I will be content with this season of my life now. I will give thanks everyday for what I have, with all that I have been blessed with, not whine about what I don't have or want. I have been trying to say this to myself every morning. I say it and mean it...however by noon I am once again jumping ahead...wish I....maybe I...think I should...can't wait for...Oh well, I'm trying, at least I'm content for a few hours each day, that's a start. :)

Happy New Year!
Cannot believe it is late January 2012!
The holidays have come and gone, and by now many people have failed at their attempt for some kind of New Year's Resolution. I try not to make those anymore...however this year I told myself I am just going to try to make healthier choices. Food, fitness, TV, movies, books, friends, life! I want to live a healthy life.
As I embark on this "empty-nest" life...I realize that it is so easy or maybe just lazy to let the bad stuff in. Depressing news, violent movies, french fries, carbs, whatever the culprit is, I am going to work on cutting those bad things out! If I can eliminate even half of them I will have succeeded in my resolution.
So if any of you out there are sticking to your New Year's Resolution, congrat's! If not, join me! Eliminate one negative unhealthy thing today, turn off the news, drink water instead of that coke, make brown rice instead of white, stop and thank God for your blessings instead of whining about something you don't have.
Happy New Year, let's make 2012 a healthy, happy one! :)
